A Note from Genband CEO Charlie Vogt

Now that the sale of Nortel’s carrier VoIP and applications business has been sold to Genband for $183-million, Genband CEO Carlie Vogt sent a note to the employees involved in the deal:

Greetings from GENBAND
An open letter to employees of Nortel’s Carrier VoIP and Application Solutions business

On behalf of GENBAND, our management team and Board of Directors, I look forward to welcoming Nortel’s CVAS team to GENBAND. We are delighted by the sale outcome and hope to meet some of you in person soon. While there is still a regulatory review process, information and consultation to be carried out in certain EMEA jurisdictions, and other closing conditions, integration planning is well underway and we anticipate closing during the second quarter.

I realize that the announcement triggers many questions, and you have my commitment that you will be updated on the transaction on a regular basis. Until the close of the acquisition, we will continue as separate, independent businesses. In the meantime, please visitour website (www.genband.com) to learn more about GENBAND.

By integrating the CVAS and GENBAND portfolios, we will create the most comprehensive, open architecture, IP switching portfolio in the world and are uniquely positioned to cost effectively transform today’s legacy switching infrastructure. This transaction will enhance GENBAND’s research and development, sales, and support capabilities spanning the globe, with strengthened operations in North America, Europe, Asia, India, the Middle East and Latin America – and combined with our strategic partners – we anticipate expanding our channels with a broader product and service portfolio.

While the uncertainty of the sale process is now behind us, we recognize there is much work ahead as we continue the integration planning process. We will make product, people and operational decisions quickly to shape the future of the combined business.

It’s a new day. The acquisition of CVAS will be a monumental milestone in the transformation of GENBAND into the world leader in IP switching and Carrier VoIP. Together, we will transform the landscape of fixed and mobile networks and exceed our customers’ expectations. We look forward to the days ahead.

Thank you,

Charlie

Perhaps paying slave labour wages and expecting 100 hour weeks is truly the way forwards then?
