Nortel Enterprise Auction is a Marathon

I’d love to be a fly on the wall in New York City as the auction for Nortel’s enterprise business continues deep into a second day. Nortel social media guru Bo Gowan suggests we could be looking at a multi-day auction before a winner emerges.

So, what’s taking so long? Are Avaya and Siemens continuing to bid even as the price keeps going higher? Are legal issues – Verizon’s protest about Avaya winning the deal – coming into play?

It looks like it’s going to be a long weekend for everyone involved, and we may not discover the eventual winner until the buyer decides to disclose the news.

Everything Nortel does is with laser focus. More like a laser guided bomb as far as I can see. Everything in pieces. The Nortel press release says shareholders will get zero. All gone away.

You have to be careful with the creditor remark.
For the big creditors like the banks, the judges, the IRS, the lawyers, other large companies
who lent or invested lots of money in Nortel yes it does help them a bit.
Sadly it does nothing for the ex-employees, pensioners or about to be ex employees.
These are the ones who've really been let down and ignored especially in

    Hackney says:

It provides the capability to chart our future with laser-focus

    Yeah right!

The creditors must be happy with that figure. More cents on the dollar for them!

Especially after reports such as this: http://www.telecoms.com/14403/avaya-siemens-to-… which said that it might go *as high as* only $600m.

Whilst the company is poor, in business, the R&D and technology is (was) good!
