Alepian: Out of the Hot Seat

It’s interesting to see that Ron Alepian has left Nortel where he was VP, Global Communications and Corporate Marketing.

Alepian is now VP, marketing and corporate communications with TMX Group, which owns and operates Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange.

Sounds like a solid place to land.

Another weasel has just left. Typical PR guy..lots of rah-rahs..but nothing of substance. Probably got fed up with being blindsided by the bigger weasels.

Even he didn't believe Z…. sounds like a wake up call !

I wonder if Baghdad Bob is available?

At the end of the day, Nortel is losing executive after executive, employee after employee. That will ultimately sink the company. The longer this bankruptcy takes, the less there will be to salvage.

Hey…this is starting to feel like a run at the bank. Soon there won't be anybody left and we'll just give this company away. Knew Alepian a bit (not much). As the saying goes “you can't make lemonade out of a lemon” and NT has become a lemon. My Director, and his VP, quit in the past week. Wonder who is going to leave next.

Walk around the executive suite – it is getting rather bare. Wonder who is left steering the ship? Anybody know who took over? There were some great guys on that team, Mo Nakhooda, Jay Barta, Bo Gowan.

    I assume Apelian was sacked.
Did he not run his mouth off saying things he wasn't suppose to at one time?

  • GoProto

    you mean like.. the truth???

  • bankrupt_bob

    ….sinking ships ….rats leaving …hmmmm ….where have I heard that before ;>)

  • soundslikesourgrapes

    I forget what it was.
But it put egg all over his face and his bosses.

Bounce before they disappear makes sense. The company is disintegrating at an exponentially faster rate than anyone could imagine.

I am surprised more didn't leave after the initial bonus-gate mass exodus, like when downplaying restating a restated restatement…

I still remember the insider only CFOs as they still promote those they hold close relationships, trade options for cash, etc., like what's changed with transparency, innovation, profits, forecasts, etc., eluding them after so much benefit of the doubt to looting the corpse now. Who wouldn't leave if they could.

Not much coming out of them since CEO and CFO got lawsuits for the happy talk, struggling to sell assets, yet still bonus driven into their demise.

After so much unprecedented benefit of the doubt, it might be more interesting to see who still remains than departs, voluntarily or otherwise=)

Alepian can do any job. After all it's not easy to be a Nortel PR man with all the lies that he had to do.

    Very good observation.
The most probable explanations are usually neglected in the discussion on this blog.
I am with you on that, Proto.
The new class action lawsuit 2008 alleges that Nortel lied and misinformed public about revenues, orders, profitability….
The biggest investing scam ever is still very much under covers!
10 mill shareholders defrauded of $40k of their money by cooking books and propaganda.
I wish main media would explore investors' point of view in that saga.

Can't imagine working in Nortel PR was much more than putting out the fires set by CEO and the gang in the past year. my understanding is that he left (resigned) to join TMX. Frankly, I wonder why it took 6 months from the filing for him to decide to leave. Probably, like the rest of us, held out hope that we could get through the bankruptcy quickly…NOT!

any idea how much he got for AIP ?
