Richard Lowe had 3 job interviews in the last month. He is looking for a way out.

  • Theleftbehind

Another building us being shut down in NC. NC3 building will be closed down.

  • Theleftbehind

Another one that a friend of mine shared with me. NORTEL CALA us presenting chapter 11 very soon as they run of cash. And they have a lawsuit from a company in the Caribbean due to the cancellation if the wimax product.

  • NTblinker

    So they are unbelievers:)

  • AcrimoniousAl

Just curious, where does the BoD actually meet? The fancy Park Hyatt Toronto ?
Or do they meet at Nortel Headquarters – The Center of Ineptitude ?

  • NTblinker

    A Major site?

  • NTblinker

    RTP ok.

  • Another_Nortel_Watcher

    You know this how?

  • Another_Nortel_Watcher

Good news – thanks for that.

  • Another_Nortel_Watcher

The sad thing is, the people in charge and making the decisions in Nortel don't understand these complexities, IMHO. It should make due-diligence on any sale quite entertaining.

  • Another_Nortel_Watcher

No, I think this site would welcome positive speculation if it had any substance. Something like the announcement of a decent replacement for Mike Z or Joel H would change the atmosphere.

  • Another_Nortel_Watcher

    Brilliant!

  • Another_Nortel_Watcher

    Who hired Holtz?

  • SleeplessinToronto

I just assume that the BOD is meeting to rectify the horrible mistake they made in not paying out the full severance packages. I expect a Japanese-style apology and resignations any minute. No?

  • S_O_S_This_is_HMS_Nortel

She reported to Pavi ..has to be VP or one of the finance leaders in finance org. Each Businnes Unit and region has a finance leader…where are the rest of the claims from the other VPs ..? ..very strange indeed !!!

  • Nortel watcher

I believe the company is Wind Telecom out of the Dominican Republic. If anyone can confirm this, it would be Alex Mercado of the CALA office who has done web seminars on the WiMax subject. I wonder if he reads this blog? Maybe NortelSouth knows more about the status of the lawsuit and its threat to the liquidity of CALA?

  • MrReal

Where can they possibly find a “partner” who would trust “operational issues” to NT?

  • S_O_S_This_is_HMS_Nortel

According to the Epiq system, the agenda for tomorrow in the US court is the consideration of Exhibit B, the second part of KERP/KEIP , mainly for ELT and SLT.
Also docket 480 is a passionate letter written by R. Kenas, recently severed employee, who raises the objection to the bonus plan….He includes a lots of examples, mail and internet news clipping…

Wonder who included the letter in the docket…my only wish that many other letters / proof should be presented to the presiding judge for him to consider and deny this plan once and for all…

  • NTblinker

Although NT is in troubled situation, I asure NT is a big big brand in the world. Even they sell off divs or do massive layoffs, at the end NT will strongly and tremendously emerge as a very smaller but viable company so this deliver a much more value than NT has now. Lastly NT will dip ASAP and bullish effect will start after the business plan! So If a partner see this picture, it will desire to work with NT.

  • 27539

Hummm, maybe they can save some paint from NC3, go across the street, and paint over that stupid yellow wall sticking out of the gateway building. That's one way to cover up another old nortel piece of idiocy.

  • exnt_x_2

NT's troubled situation includes basic English. You're not helping posting here, you know.

  • peludo

Here an article speculating of a possible merge between Motorola handset and Nortel wireless :

    http://web20.telecomtv.com/pages/?newsid=44680&…

I am wondering what the new company name should be ?
    NORROLA,
    NORMO,
    MOTEL,

    Please lets tote ! :o () LOL !

  • NTblinker

exnt means you mustn't write here too because you are no more relation with NT, sorry. I think the importance is on the meaning not on the language usage. Come on exnt, where are you working?

  • felixmk

    Let me guess:

    7-11
    Walmart
    Chuck E Cheese

  • less

I'm just wildly speculating here, but it appears to be Nortel itself that keeps bringing up “green”, and no less often ans with less conviction than the Thinkers Unshakable Truth that “the CIA shot JFK from the grassy knolls at Dealey Plaza”.

  • NTblinker

if it is wrong, pls correct!

  • AcrimoniousAl

Docket 480 is a good read. Thanks for calling this to our attention.

  • AcrimoniousAl

Remember all of Z's comments about “focusing on the customer”, and “talking to the customer” ? Looks like Z has been backing up his words with his usual level of quality:

    Docket: 484

    3. In connection with the pending Sale Motion, and particularly because the proposed purchaser has not yet been identified definitively, certain information that is critical to Verizon’s rights and interests in connection with the proposed sale of the Layer 4-7 business has not yet been provided to Verizon. Accordingly, Verizon is compelled to file this initial objection to the Sale Motion.

  • whatnext4nt

Reading part of this document, I was encouraged to see that “For the 2008 bonuses under the Incentive Plan, the individual performance factor for the named executive officers could have ranged from 0 to 1.5. There is no specific linear correlation between the achievement of objectives and the individual performance factor.”

  • NTblinker

    may be NORTELERMOTORS! :)

  • NortelSouth

The company is in fact Wind Telecom, the only WiMax project won by Nortel in CALA.
Regarding liquidity of CALA the had U$ 40M of cash at the end of 2008, and until Q3 2008 the region was barely in break even. I guess with the new situation after BF and the economic crisis, the started to burn cash quickly. Add to this situation the fact that all terminated employees in CALA since BF had received their severance (although I know HR was trying to trim severance to the minimum requested by local laws, different of what Nortel did in the past) and they might be approaching to some cash availability crisis in CALA…

  • joremero

Verizon mad? I think we got that from the LTE contracts already…

  • joremero

that might to get a bailout :)

  • whatnext4nt

Zeroofski, Binning, Carey and others have sweet termination provisions so severance is not an issue. See FORM 10-K page 245-246 for example.

  • so_screwed

Back in 1993/1994 when we were doing a JV of sorts with Motorola, trying to integrate their wonderful NAMPs technology (groan) into our existing AMPS/TDMA BSC, we jokingly called it NoMo communications. I think the name would be fitting here as well.

  • AcrimoniousAl

Check out this claim from SoapStone Network's. Here we have a loyal customer of Nortel that accidentally overpaid their bill and when they ask for a refund they are told to talk to the ch11 Claims Agent. This kind of treatment of customers is what happens when you have a so called leader like Mike Z.

  • 4merEmployee22

ISN'T THERE SOMETHING “FISHY” ABOUT THIS
    SIGNED AND DATED DOCUMENTS???

THE DOCUMENT WAS SIGNED AND DATED
    DEC. 9, 2008

YET, THE MONITOR E & Y SENT OUT LETTERS
TO ALL CREDITORS THAT NORTEL WAS
    APPROVED OF FILING A BANKRUPTCY
    PROTECTION DATED: JAN 14, 2009???

SEEMS TO ME, THAT A CLAIM WAS FILED ALREADY
BEFORE THE BK NOTICE??? HOW CAN THIS BE?

OR, I really don't understand this claim?

Could someone ENLIGHTEN me? on this?

  • Got_Out_Years_Ago

Good luck with that. He would not get cleared through the background check.

  • RealityStrikes

    Un-freak-en-believable….

Soapstone, one of Nortel's customers, responded quickly and efficiently to get a refund for their overpayment. Nortel told them that their overpayment was refunded on January 9, 2009. Of course, that never happened.

I suppose the multi-millions ($$$) Nortel spent on accounting software boils down to an Excel spreadsheet maintained by Pavi, so the delay in processing Soapstone's refund is justified.
