Ciena Interested in MEN?
According to Bloomberg, Ciena Corp. could be interested in buying Nortel’s Metro Ethernet network business to enhance its fiber-optic network business.
Analysts believe MEN is worth about $300-million, a far cry from the $1-billion to $1.5-billion that Nortel thought it was originally going to attract.
“They need to get bigger or they’re in trouble,” Samuel Wilson, an analyst at JMP Securities LLC, told Bloomberg. “It’s feast or famine for Ciena. This will help them smooth out customers’ buying patterns.”
