In the wake of Nortel seeking a three-month extension involving its bankruptcy filing until May, which essentially keeps its secured creditors at bay, an interesting side battle taking place is Nortel and its electrical utilities in the U.S.
Essentially, the utilities want more assurance that Nortel can afford to pay its electricity bills. This include a demand that Nortel cough up a bigger deposit.
