An Update on Comments

I’ve received a few e-mails about comments. In particular, people have asked about a disconnect between the number of comments that appear beneath a post, and the actual number of comments that exist.

The gap happens because Disqus, the comment system used by AAN, immediately counts every comment made. However, the comments don’t appear until I’ve approved them. I’ve been moderating comments for several months to inject a modicum of respect after things began to get out of hand.

As you can imagine, the comments have been flying fast and furious this week so it’s been difficult, at times, to keep up.

    I vaguely recall a few comments opining that AAN would be history after

    a) the positive 4th quarter earnings report, or

    b) if Nortel went belly-up as

    c) AAN so desperately hoped.

    Mark, it would be interesting to get some statistics from you on how many people actually visit this site daily … do you think 10% of Nortel employees use this as a resource or 75%?

    Geez, I miss the old comment posting system..perhaps I´m not the only one feeling somewhat impatient for the updates to pass through…in fact, I re-posted a comment thinking it missed your filter only to realize two hours later that the cmnt had indeed made it and the re-posting was unnecessary..

    Even though trust is scarce in and outside this blog, would you consider bringing back the old system of prompt, almost real-time comment posting?
