These credit ratings are a disaster. There is nothing good about them. In this credit environment, Nortel's suppliers are going to demand more stringent payment terms, higher prices, and even force Nortel on COD for certain items.

In addition, no Bank will factor Nortel's sales to its channel partners (60 to 90 days outstanding). And, Nortel will have great difficulty providing any funding to the activities of its channel partners, especially its few stocking partners.

S&P has affirmed Nortel's status as a leper. Companies with "A" long-term credit rating are having difficulty getting short term financing.

Nortel really could use Gary Daichendt. From 1998 to 2000, Gary was a maestro in running Cisco's distribution, service, and manufacturing arms, Mike Z has proven to be inept at anything operational.

Yes Mark, this is some good news. However, I ask rhetorically, how will this info improve management’s articulation of the corporate vision, help crystallize and affirm its strategy and create a culture where optimal execution is the norm rather than the exception? Fundamentals, not martial arts parodies…–bb

Why public did not know that?
We the retail investors are the last to know about very important decisions like CreditWatchDogs !
NT stock fell down from $1.30 to 40 Cents since than.
Mark, why do you think it was a good news today?
S&P reaffirmed its bad ratings for NT stock.
What's good about that?
