China Telecom CDMA Rumors

China Telecom
There hasn’t been an official announcement yet but speculation about China Telecom’s CDMA first-round tender suggests the following:

- Huawei received 30% or the orders, securing contracts for the cities of Guangzhou, Xiamen, Wenzhou, Ningbo, Wuxi, and Foshan

- Alcatel-Lucent secured 20% but failed in Guangdong.

- ZTE received around 15%

- Motorola took 18% winning contracts in Shenzhen, Huizhou, and Dongguan.

- Nortel won a 17%

- Samsung lost out to other network equipment manufacturers everywhere but in Shijiazhuang.

    And what is your point?
    It's china.

  • Observer

who gives a network to five different vendors ? only the chinese companies will make money but the others are given just enough to stay in business and drive down prices. As I said in the other thread, the telecom industry is a cluster!@#$%.

    Vendor/BTSes/Cities
    Huawei/14779/20
    ALU/9502/13
    ZTE/9248/21
    Moto/11033/15
    Nortel/10846/13
    Samsung/728/1

The second wave is coming. Not sure how many BTSes Verizon has.

  • er…..

CTC began to sign contract with vendors from yesterday, city by city. and there's rumor that Chinese vendor HUAWEI/ZTE will get most part in the 2nd round…

Crint-san make lacist statement. Worker paladise China not forget this.

  • Clint

    Huaweii will get everything.
    A government run communist enterprise.
It does not matter if they deliver or what their Quality of Service is…because they are serving the Chinese population. And the government will tell them to sit back accept the garbage and actually fawn over how great Huaweii is doing in their own backyard even when they suck.
    I can see it now.

Clint, you are clearly unhappy with and afraid of China. Keep in mind that those with xenophobic attitudes are destined to be casualties in any global industry. “I can see it now.”

    LOL

Let me see if I get this; the Chinese government helping its own. I don’t see the US government bailing out foreign banks/brokerages, do you?…–bb

Paulson's plan bails out foreign banks first.

    Quiz for kjwerhrhsdtrwvxsk:

Since when is reality xenophobia? This is not a trick question.

  • Clint

There is every reason to be xenophobic when it comes to China.
Let me put it into perspective for you.
China exports malamine in food, lead in toys, faulty medical/diagnostic equipment, clone rip-offs that don't live up to the label or billing. Think of all the stuff the Chinese make, and have exported or kept in circulation on the mainland, cross reference my examples and the world has every reason to be fearful. Just think of the Garbage they put out that WE HAVE NOT found out about yet. That indeed is the scary part. We are seeing the tip of iceberg. Now let's talk about Telecom. Huaweii can undercut the competition by billions because the Chinese dream can be fulfilled living in a rice hut with shoes on your feet and dinner on the table. That's all the majority need or want. Contrast that to the NA lifestyle. How do you compete against a Giant Like Huaweii that is totally propped up by the government and can do no wrong in their eyes. You can't compete against that. I live in north america. I put North American interests and well being first. I don't give two squats about Chinese interests and well being. Chinese people that have immigrated here is another story. I have no problem with them. It is about time our politicians put Canada first. The Chinese could care less how many jobs leave North America. They could care less about our kids, our future graduates and if we can support our families. Why should the typical dumb, tolerant canuck feel any different?

  • broadbandbill

That's the difference between us and the Chinese, they take care of their own…–bb

The Chinese are doing it for the downtrodden prole masses everyhere yearning to be free.

Clint, it's really stupid of you to say this. Who would refuse better life if they could get? I don't think it's anything wrong that the Chinese develop their own telecommunication companies to compete with the north America vendors. Low price is just a stategy of HuaWeii, I think you are unhappy about this just because HuaWeii gets more contracts than Nortel.
