and point to note is Roese thinks 4G cannot be done on the present 3G infrastrcuture. duh! who do you think is going to rip out all that investment for shining knght in armor Nortel to come in with a 4G solution. it will be slow before it happens and if it does it will be the exisitng incumbents.

just license the technology. sell of CDMA as well. give it all to the Hackney guys. heck, maybe you little devils have already thought of doing that now.

read what he has to stay. blah blah. though he stole some words out of Cisco's playbook. Cisco started a marketing campaign on its website on collaboation, communication etc. for its human network pitch.

its a wonder how this guy comes with exactly the same pitch. no originality.

the nortel future is not that Roese (pronounce Rosy). need I say any more.

Thanks for your comment. Metaphorically speaking perhaps they already are in jail. I have never seen as mush arrogance/pompousness in the Telco sector (from vendors) as I have in the last few years including unearned arrogance from Nortel’s CTO. Doesn’t pride goeth before the fall? Don't get too worked up. I see lots of arrogant/stupid/talkative/pompous telecom execs every month. If being arrogant/stupid/talkative/pompous was a crime, the whole telecom industry top level would be in jail.

Think yourself lucky you are not a customer who has to listen to this babbling idiot. I had the displeasure to do this once and then told my sales guy never to bring him to a meeting again.

I just realized that the Carrier Ethernet World Congress is being held in Germany this coming week. I hope someone publishes a picture of the Nortel booth with a big 'For Sale' sign on it.

To further appreciate what a novice CTO John Roese is see the quote below from his interview w/Om Malik at the Mobilize conference, where he miss-uses meaningless industry data to make his case for hyper-connectivity:

“In Europe there’s 112 percent cellular penetration. In Italy, 1.47 cell phones per person. I don’t want to debate whether or not it’s going to happen; it already has happened.”

He is confusing total sales of mobile devices in Europe/Italy with “112% cellular penetration and 1.47/person”, the latter number implying that every other Italian actually owns 2 mobile phones. Has he not heard of replacements/upgrades? This type of idiocy is what started the whole downward spiral; amateurs with a microphone….--bb

Hey.....I'm from Italy. and I can tell you John Roese is right. In Italy, 2 mobiles (and contracts) per person is the norm. I might tell ya that, looking at kids, this might be even understimating the situation. Of course, this does not mean that every phone is generating a huge cash flow....but mobile companies in italy are the only business (with banks) with a 2 digits growt, in a country that is talking about recession.

Hyperconnectivity-hyperconnectivity-hyperconnectivity!!! bwawk bwawk bwawk!! Polly wants Hyperconnectivity bwawk bwawk. This CTO is a joke.

Last week the CEO had the audacity to speak to his subjects to state that all of them should continue working normally like "business as usual" while he and his greedy executive team along with the incompetent board work on laying people off. What is sickening is that he spoke about accountability. Of course not his accountability or the board's. They will all be stealing from the company and breaking it up. The moral is at an all time and of course everyone where I work in NT pretty much knows that all these guys are no better than petty thieves.

Ya.... I z-watched it... with the z-sound off. Quite entertaining with all the hand-waving and and intricate finger compositions. I learned a lot.

If anyone has a link they want to share of Mike Z.'s video with AAN, that would be great.

Don't bother Mark, it's a waste of time and says nothing. Hmm that actually sounds like an appropriate description of Mike Z's 3 year tenure here.
