Looking for a New Look

You may notice over the next few days that AAN looks different. I’m playing around with some WordPress themes in an attempt to find something clean, fresh and engaging – along the ability to easy tweak it.

If you’re into WordPress and have some theme suggestions, let me know.

Update: I’m pretty happy with the new WordPress them. One minor glitch was an attempt to upgrade Disqus. For some reason, it caused comments for the IBM-Nortel post to go into hiding. I’m working with Disqus on how to make them appear again.

    I think its the google advertising blocks that are making it look cluttered, though that probably can't be helped.

    This looks much better. I never liked the dog's butt all that much.
    Agree with the others that the Google ads everywhere are a bit much.

    I preferred DisQus..it had less clutter and met the clean, fresh and engaging qualities for me as a reader

    Contract wins are contract wins
    You posted just 2 contracts this year. What can you do? Post about few trials and small wins? A school here a hotel there? You can check if you posted it here and did not get to the category. Nortel does not get contracts; Nortel loses customers. That is what I wanted to point out. Last quarter Nortel lost $500 mill in new orders. Maybe you would tell me why Mike Z trumpets Nortel's growth when even a child see that Nortel has no wins. How many customers declined to buy from Nortel? $500 mill in one quarter represents more than 3 biggest customers in simple math or simply 25% decline.
    Huawei replaces Nortel's gears here, Ericson there… that is what I see
    You are doing relatively good job Mark. What can you do better than that? Your forum is what it is, Forum about a bad company and a bad investment.
    It's up to Nortel to show any improvement in the business without lies and false numbers.
    I keep my family and friends informed how bad NT stock is and how Nortel's CEO has been misleading the public. His example of investing in NT stock at $20 was just a bad example.

    Aw, I'm just playing conspiracy nut here.

    See, I “noticed” the new AAN banner sports Cisco's, not Nortel's, shade of blue, so obviously there *must* be something insdious afoot here. Theres no other rational explanation for his choice of blue; Mark's transmmitting a subliminal message to the masses to “buy Cisco” which, in turn, is obviously in bed with said vast right-wing conspiracy. Cmon, how else can Cisco turn a profit while most everyone else is floundering financially?

    Its all so obvious to those trained to think.

    I'm not a fan of this WordPress Theme, mostly due to problems in getting it to display correctly using IE. For whatever reason, while on the main page, the primary blog content will not display in the middle column and gets bumped down to the bottom and displayed on the left column. I've changed screen resolution etc. with no improved results.

    A 3-column theme makes sense but I would personally prefer the primary content to be placed in the leftmost column. Have you looked at the i-blog theme?

    Sorry to hear the new theme isn't working for you. I'll check out the i-blog themes. Maybe what I'll do going forward is selecting some theme candidates, and then give people a chance to give me some feedback.

    I really liked that picture of that hazy city…. with the patio umbrella I think? I can't remember. I don't know why I like it….. but it really did it for me…. it kinda shouts telecom gear, ya know?
