Bullish Toronto Star Story Vanishes

Among the flurry of Nortel media coverage, one story in particular stuck out like a sore thumb:

The strange thing is when you click on it, you see a blank page.

Either the Toronto Star is suggesting that Frank Dunn, Michael Gollogly and Doug Beatty had careers that were nothing to write home about, or perhaps the Toronto Star editors had second thoughts about running a story that goes against the flow of all the other coverage.

Truth be told, Frank Dunn had a non-descript career. He was a solid bean counter who toiled away at Nortel before he was surprisingly promoted to CEO after John Roth abruptly announced his resignation.

They also said Frank was a “nice guy” so they obviously have no idea about his reputation within the company.

Lucky for frank he wasn't in the US. The feds would have shackled him and marched him out on his toes.

  • not there any more

FAD a nice guy? He stepped into an elevator full of VP's once, and apparently said '….sometimes you just got to show them who is boss…'. Then another time he head-butted with a 'private' in a comms session after the 'private' had articulated he and the company did not have the resources to chase an opportunity, and FAD made it out to be the 'privates' problem (who by the way was later asked to resign and he did not!; he eventually outlasted FAD so maybe there is some justice in this cruel world)
