Alvarion Fired Up About Wi-Max
By Mark Evans | June 19, 2008
As Nortel turns away from Wi-Max to focus on LTE, it’s no surprise that Alvarion is stoked about its re-selling agreement with Nortel announced last week.
Tzvika Friedman, Alvarion’s CEO, told WiMAX-Vision that it is a “landmark” deal for the Israeli base station supplier. “We are a stronger player now and can be the number one WiMAX [supplier].”
“The Nortel deal allows us to become more competitive in our WiMAX product offering; it brings to us additional wireless expertise, particularly in MIMO; and it will expedite product development,” he said. “It will also give us extra service implementation capability to do turnkey projects, and enable us to target customers that we couldn’t reach before.”
