Given that Nortel is embracing social media so enthusiastically, the AGM features a Webcast for everyone who doesn’t find themselves in Ottawa tomorrow.
Speaking of AGMs, I still look back fondly at the five-hour marathon in Halifax in 2002 where shareholder activist Robert Verdun went toe-to-toe with CEO Frank Dunn and chair Red Wilson over Roberts Rules. Good times!
likely what will happen is Nortel will get this into their installed base after which Cisco, Avaya or even Juniper will buy them. then the Nortel gear will slowly disappear. been there, done that and seen a t-shirt 'losers'.
its sad to see where this company is going. everything is outsourced or partnered. rather than vendor they are more like a system integrator and reseller now. maybe thats the only value as Nortel does have such an attractive cash cow installed base.

BTW: Did you notice the press release today regarding Nortel using SecureLogix technology to secure voice systems. If you are not familiar with SecureLogix you need to be. I have been in the security space for over 20 years and they have one of the most unique and best engineered security solutions in the security space. Voice security has been a major but largely ignored and poorly understood issue by both telecom and IT security folks for years. Glad to see Nortel has be is starting to get it because CISCO and Avaya sure dont... If Nortel was smart they would buy these guys as it would enable them to secure those customer that using mainly CISCO VoIP and Avaya...
