Papageorgiou: Nortel Gets a Credibility Boost

Gus Papageorgiou, who has been among the most bullish analysts on Nortel, believes the first-quarter was “important” because it “was the first quarter in quite some time where management was able to meet or exceed expectations while maintaining its previously established guidance”.

Papageorgiou didn’t let his enthusiasm get him completely carried away as he maintained his “sector perform” rating and a target price of $11.50.

    First
NT lost 32 Cents if we use the same number of shares as one year ago /before 15% dilution/
The loss is the loss. Mark Evans posted a table with analysts expectations for Q1. Not even 1 analyst predicted 32 Cents loss!
    Loss is a loss
On top of it NT lost $309 mill cash this quarter.
and $1.3 bill in last 12 months
Losing cash is not a joke when we know more Pension Deficit will be paid in 2008 and there is debt due in 2008 too /some say $700 mill, some say $1.3 bill, maybe we can use this blog to find out debt obligation in 2008/
Cash was low and is getting lower.
    When NT will turn green?
One time restructuring costs in most companies has been reported quarter after quarter in last 7 years by Nortel!
and as always, Nortel paid bonuses and it was the last nail to the Q1 balance sheet!
Showing higher revenues with higher loss, that's what Nortel is good in; selling below costs!
BSNL deals are just perfect examples.
NT takes $40 a line when ERICs gets $100 a line from BSNL!
I am not surprised NT is trading below $1 /pre r.split/

Trouble with apple's analysis, is that analysts have been including the 15% dilution in their estimates for the past year, and NT has been doing the same in it's quarterly releases since Q2, 2007.

Apple is just trying to muddle the results in an effort to confuse

Improving_NT , tell me, how simple math can confuse you?
Simple calculation says that 437 mill shares times 32 Cents loss a share is $140 mill total loss.
and 500 mill shares/ just diluted/ times 28 Cents a share loss is also $140 mill loss.
    Loss is a loss!
    Look at CSCO
Why they grow 10% YoY and have $2 bill profits each and every quarter?
I know, Nortelies don't like good business, they don't like CSCO!
Nortelies like to report numbers not in GAAP!
Operational margin is not GAAP number!
    4% 8% whatever.
    Show me growth and profits!
    Show me cash improvements!
    Oh not at Nortel.
NT lost $310 mill cash last quarter and $1.3 bill in last 12 months!
When CSCO and other vendors are loading cash each quarter no matter the market conditions, NT is losing it and has been doing it for years! /ages?/
There is millions for Mike Z and billions for bonuses for all the employees!
    What can you do?
    Let shareholders pay that!

So who is posting here to confuse a common shareholder?
Let me ask the other way..
please find one my post I was wrong or lied about NT stock in last 5 years! It should be easy for a smart guy like you!
    Don't come here empty handed!

apple. Nobody but you calculates per share earnings using the old share count. You think you can sound knowledgeable by spouting a lot of numbers and asking a lot of questions.

I know your game, and it is not worth my time to play.
