The leadership team didn't have much to work with to begin with as they were left a pile of problems by previous management. The problem has been, is and will be the board of directors. Management after all is just another employee in the bigger picture. If they can fleece the board (the real employer), then more power to them.

I'd have to agree that the current leadership is the real problem. The apparent lack of vision is taking it's toll on the workforce and without the workforces support, success will be very hard to achieve.

ex-nt – facts like that really put things in perspective, don't they.

However, if you look at potential value, I think Nortel has a much higher upside. The problem is that the current leadership team is lost and that's what the stock price reflects.

I just looked up Polycom, the guys that make the cute speakerphones. Their market cap is $2B. Nortel's market cap is $3B. Nortel used to make speakerphones, quite nice ones in fact. Oh how the mighty have fallen – Nortel is only worth 50% more than a company that makes $100 to $500 speakerphones.
