Nortel Pins Hopes on Wireless
By Mark Evans | April 11, 2008

So, what’s going to save Nortel’s bacon?
According to chief technology officer John Roese, Nortel is going to reap the benefits of wireless upgrades as carriers look to boost the speed and size of their networks.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Roese said the company’s focus on LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology will produce dividend as “tens of billions of dollars of capital will be invested”.
Roese may be right about the aggressive spending but the question is whether Nortel will get its fair share of the business against rivals such as Huawei, Ericsson, Alcatel, etc.
