“A Marriage of Mediocrity”
By Mark Evans | February 13, 2008
Well, investors are definitely underwhelmed by rumors of a wireless deal with Motorola as the shares hit another 52-week low of $10.28 ($1.03 pre-consolidation).
In the Globe & Mail, columnist Fabrice Taylor described this apparent disinterest this way:
“Portfolio managers barely glanced up at their screens to register the news. And who can blame them? They’re being fed a story about a merger between two underperformers in a sort of deal that’s demonstrably useless judging from Alcatel’s experience. Investors aren’t biting because they’re more interested in learning if Nortel will survive.”
