Nortel Backed Away From 3Com?

According to the Wall St. Journal, Nortel was interested in making a run at 3Com Corp. but backed away because it would have put into competition with Huawei, which ended up taking a minority stake in 3Com as part of a $2.2-billion deal led by Bain Capital. It’s an interesting scenario, particularly because 3Com has a successful joint venture with Huawei called H3C while Nortel’s attempt to do a JV with Huawei failed to materialize.

Although its a bit ironic when you consider their routes but Netgear is more viable proposition – Think about it .

Boy that would be irony and a half. However if I were a netgear employee, I would be very sad to be put through the nortel wringer again.

To add to that – it would be a sad day for any employee to be taken over by Nortel.

Nortel hasn’t even gotten their own financial house in order. Their stock is in the dumps, products still in trouble, morale amoung current staff is still not repaired … they should clean up their own bakyard before they go make a mess of someone elses.
