    Nortel’s Wireless Plans Applauded

    By Mark Evans | July 18, 2007

InformationWeek’s Frank Bulk offers up good reviews for Nortel’s strategic focus on providing wireless solutions to the enterprise market, especially the offering of Wi-Fi technology.

The introduction of 802.11n offers it a window into the enterprise Wi-Fi market. As the broader market reconsiders the previous Wi-Fi generations’ centralization of the data plane, it makes perfect sense for Nortel to nudge the pendulum to settle between the extremes of autonomous access points and overlay designs, to a mixed-plane architecture, by moving toward a vision that embodies a unified wired and wireless LAN architecture. By integrating controller smarts into its Ethernet switches, controllers simply become management appliances.”
