      Nortel Loses Lawsuit

      By Mark Evans | April 20, 2007

Nortel has been ordered to pay $28-million to Ipernica Ltd. for illegally using the Australian’s company’s switching technology. Nortel was not alone on Ipernica’s hit list as the company also went after Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent and Juniper, which reached an out of court settlement. Ipernica estimated its technology is used in $2 billion worth of networking products by several manufacturers a year, and was seeking royalties up to 7%.
