Nortel On Track for ‘08

At the ITU Telecom World 2006 Forum in Hong Kong, Nortel CEO Mike Zafirovski said the company is still on track to meet its operating profit targets by 2008. “There is a commitment, there’s a path for us to go from a break-even, a loss position, to be a $1.5 billion operating margin company in 2008,” he told reporters, adding the $1.5-billion would be before special charges and interest expense.

meeting “aggressive targets”? what happened, “a miracle”?

2008 when accounting is to be fixed, fuelling more optimism for 2008 when debt is due, sure… sure…. lets get past 2007 first with all that awaits them

Its hard to get excited about getting to such a target by 2008, three years after Mike Z comes on board. If there are such good low hanging fruit as discussed at recent investors conference, why so long?
