For sure it's going to do it again and again. As for every change, lots of people will probably lose their career for not being able to embrace the new reality. Nortel keeps touting its IP portfolio. I don't know how much is reality and how much is hype, although I suspect it leans to the latter. Does it really matter anyway? Nortel is quite a bit behind in product implementation, regardless of its IP. In Roese's interview and Peter McKinnon (head of WiMAX) recent keynote address at WimAX World, they both tout the current Sprint RFP, as if Nortel was the frontrunner to get that business, which, by the way, is the only significant carrier business available today. Again more hype than reality. One of the key players at Sprint is Mark Whitton, the former head of Nortel WiMAX. I don't know if that makes it easier for Nortel. I suspect not.
