Former VP for channels at Avaya joins rival Nortel

Moreno Ciboldi, former vice president for channels across Europe at Avaya, has joined rival vendor Nortel as vice president of sales across EMEA, where he will lead the enterprise division and help grow the burgeoning small and medium sized business (SMB) market in the region.

Ciboldi left Avaya last year and under the terms of his agreement, was unable to start working at Nortel until July this year. His responsibilities at Nortel include enterprise and SMB sales, global accounts, advanced services, IVR, contact centre, and driving a strategic and visionary go to market approach in distribution, systems integration and channels.

“We have data, security and voice solutions specifically engineered for SMBs. And I see a company here that’s really focused on enterprise and with our agreement with Microsoft, I can see some exciting opportunities. It’s an exciting position to be in.”

Peter Kelly, enterprise president for Europe, has brought Ciboldi in to directly manage and support the company’s European enterprise teams. Additionally, as Nortel has begun growing its SMB channel over the course of this year, Ciboldi has taken on responsibility for overseeing the growth of sales in that arena also, which is being looked after by Marco Pascouli who joined Nortel from Swyx.

Cibaldi continued: “We are launching a strong team to focus on SMB in Europe. This is not just about people, it’s about product. We expect something around 100% growth for SMB in Europe this and next year, which is an area we weren’t completely focused on before in terms of data. We have launched a new data product especially for the SMB market, which goes together with the BCM voice product range to create a proposition especially for SMEs.”Moreno Ciboldi, former vice president for channels across Europe at Avaya, has joined rival vendor Nortel as vice president of sales across EMEA, where he will lead the enterprise division and help grow the burgeoning small and medium sized business (SMB) market in the region.
