Lots of Buzz for $20M Contract
By Mark Evans | July 13, 2006
You’d think Nortel had landed a major deal with all the media coverage of its $20-million, seven-year contract with Rolls-Royce to replace a global TDM phone network with IP-based voice and fax system. The deal will also see Nortel assume management of the existing TDM equipment and migrate Rolls-Royce’s divisions to VoIP in the coming months. Perhaps it’s the cache of Rolls-Royce that has generated so much attention; maybe it’s Nortel making a big deal of a TDM-to-VoIP contract to demonstate its leadership position in the market. Nevertheless, it’s a small deal relatively speaking.
