Siemens-Nortel….Part II

Well, it's official: Siemens' enterprise business is on the block with Nortel and Avaya seen as the frontrunners. So does this explain why Nortel CEO Mike Zafirovski has been so bullish about the enterprise business with his assertions the market wants a viable alternative to Cisco? If a deal with Siemens materialized, you'd probably be looking at a $6-billion enterprise business with strength in the VoIP and PBX (traditional and IP-based) markets. For more on the story, check out today's National Post.

Update: Bloomberg has a story suggesting Siemens could get 1.9-billion euros for its enterprise business unit from Avaya or Nortel.

I don’t think the sum of the two units will be equal or greater than the whole. There is a lot of product overlap, although Siemens strength in Europe is an asset. My money is on Avaya to pick up the business and maybe a surprise by Ericsson if it chooses to round up its portfolio.
