Nortel Tells All Tomorrow…We Hope!
So what's CEO Mike Zafirovski going to say tomorrow when Nortel holds conference calls with analysts and the media. UBS Securities believes there will be some commentary on 1Q 2006 results and an update on the company's business strategy. UBS expects Nortel to have 1Q revenue of $2.63-billion, up 10% YOY, EPS of $0.02 vs. EPS loss of ($0.04) in 1Q05, and gross margin of 41.5% vs 38% in 1Q 2005. "Expect increasing focus on enterprise and shift in wireless," UBS said in a research report. "We continue to believe as part of its overall product strategy, Nortel willincreasingly focus on enterprise given its strength in voice telephony and the recent acquisition of Tasman, and possibly seek partners in wireless. We also believe there is room for further efficiencies in the business operating model viaopex reductions."
