New Nortel CMO Hired

Nortel has lured its second senior executive away from IBM in the past week with the hiring of Lauren Flaherty as chief marketing officer. Flaherty, who had been IBM's vice-president, worldwide marketing for small and medium business, will come on board in two weeks. She replaces Clent Richardson, who announced his resignation last December afer only 18 months on the job. Last week, Nortel named Dietmar Wendt as president of its global service division – a position that has been vacant since Sue Spradley was bumped aside earlier this year. The only hole left in CEO Mike Zafirovski's executive overhaul is a chief technology officer.
