The Alcatel Effect

BusinessWeek has an interesting story looking at all of the activity happening in the telecom equipment these days, ranging from the Alcatel-Lucent deal to potential IPOs (Force 10) to rumors Siemens is looking to sell the last parts of its communications business (potential buyers: Ericsson and Motorola). Last week, BusinessWeek had a story looking at Nortel's future. While there are potential buyers (Ericsson, Motorola), the article suggested the M&A action  in the near-term could involved players such as Juniper, Ciena, Sonus Networks and Tellabs.
