Nortel Post-Mortem

If you didn’t get enough fodder yesterday about Nortel’s $2.5-billion class-action lawsuit settlement plan, here’s some more material from the National Post, which includes a look at what CEO Mike Z. needs to tackle next, and a somewhat odd story from the Toronto Star that leads off with the fact two institutional funds are pursuing lawsuits against 29 Nortel executives, including ex-CEO Frank Dunn. Perhaps most interesting about the settlement agreement is the active role played by Mike Z., who met with plaintiffs earlier this week in New York and gave them a 15-minute presentation about Nortel’s strategic vision. This is something the investment community has been awaiting since Mike Z. took the reigns of Nortel in mid-November. I suspect we’ll get our first glimpse of grand vision when Nortel posts its Q4 results soon.
